Systems of this kind often sit between established categories. Their technology can be sophisticated, while their purpose remains difficult to communicate. The project therefore focused on understanding the underlying system in depth and translating its capabilities into a clear narrative of practical value. The goal was not simply to label the product with a category, but to make a complex technological logic understandable through positioning, messaging, and design. Positioning Through Mental Models The positioning work was based on analysing how product managers and innovation teams mentally frame product decisions. Instead of describing the platform through technical features, the communication was structured around decision contexts, product lifecycle thinking, and portfolio strategy. This approach translated the underlying technology into narratives that connect with the mental models of its target audience. The result was a coherent positioning framework, core messaging, and a structured tone-of-voice system for the product. A Visual Identity for a Premium Technology Product A key part of the project was the development of a distinctive visual identity and website system. Many technology platforms appear visually interchangeable, often creating the impression that the product itself is equally generic. The aim here was the opposite: to establish a visual language that signals technological depth and product quality. The resulting design draws on a progressive laboratory aesthetic with subtle references to beauty and fashion culture. This creates an identity that feels closer to a high-end research product than to a conventional SaaS interface, while remaining legible for Eyva’s industry audience. --- ### Identity Mirror Client: SPRIND Tags: Interactive Exhibit, Conception, Realisation URL: https://www.plateaucandy.de/en/projects/identity-mirror Making Digital Identity Visible A Generative Reflection of Identity How can an abstract concept such as digital identity be translated into something people can immediately experience? For re:publica 2025, the interactive installation “Identity Mirror” was created to transform the idea of digital identity into a visual and poetic experience. The installation converts the live camera image of visitors into a generative mosaic of animated graphic elements. Each movement becomes part of a continuous visual transformation in which identity appears not as a static object but as a dynamic interplay of data, context and perception. The installation was developed for the EUDI Wallet project of SPRIND in collaboration with MEIRÉ and the Polish designer and digital artist Bartosz Szymkiewicz. From Infrastructure to Experience The EUDI Wallet is a central component of Europe’s emerging digital identity infrastructure. It will allow citizens to store digital credentials securely on their smartphones and share them selectively under their own control. At re:publica, the goal was therefore not to explain this complex technological initiative through interfaces, but to make its underlying idea tangible through a visual and interactive experience. The project builds on an experimental generative system by Bartosz Szymkiewicz that transforms webcam imagery into animated pixel structures and was further developed into a visual language tailored to the themes of digital identity and European infrastructure. The installation also integrates project-specific graphic elements and short textual statements addressing ideas such as digital sovereignty and identity within digital ecosystems. --- ### Connected Apparel Client: Telekom + AlphaTauri Tags: Design, Development, UX CX BX, URL: https://www.plateaucandy.de/en/projects/connected-apparel The Heatable Capsule Collection About the Heatable Capsule Collection The Heatable Capsule Collection (HCC) represents a pioneering venture in the realm of smart fashion, initiated by the collaboration between Deutsche Telekom, fashion innovator AlphaTauri and textile innovators Schoeller Textil AG. This installation symbolizes the constant, dynamic change in our economy and society. The ifo Institute is renowned for its scientific excellence, notably recognized for its ability to generate, analyze, and interpret data. This expertise shapes the institute's work and ensures its ongoing impact across policy, business, and societal spheres. Built on the integration of data, technology, innovation, and interpretation, "FlowStates" is a data artwork that enables the ifo Institute to make economic developments perceptible in a new aesthetic dimension. Constructing Visual Narratives from Economic Indicators "FlowStates" is an intricate data artwork that integrates six unique designs, each driven by algorithms that convert data streams from the ifo business climate—spanning industries from manufacturing to transport—into varied visual forms. These streams are dynamically updated with correlated Eurostat data, such as international trade figures, construction production volumes, and consumer trends in online services across Europe. The artwork is presented in a temporal sequence governed by a day and night cycle. Rather than adhering to traditional, static perspectives, the designs are captured from multiple viewpoints. This dynamic approach means that the artwork does not have a conventional beginning, end, top, or bottom, defying standard orientations and inviting viewers to engage with it from any angle—challenging and expanding the traditional boundaries of how art is perceived and experienced. Remote Control In addition to the data painting itself, we developed a remotely accessible interface that gives our client enhanced control over the artwork. This tool allows the client to select specific designs or adjust settings for day and night versions. Export Module Traditionally, artwork remains within the confines of its physical exhibit. Recognizing this limitation, we designed and developed an export module for the data painting from scratch to extend the artwork's accessibility for our client. Remotely accessible, this module enables to use the art in various digital formats for videos, streaming to external screens, and creating stills for social media or print. Nature's Code: Unveiling Complex Patterns Through Parametric Art and Data Streams The visual designs of "Flow States" draw from the rich tapestry of natural forms, spanning the scale from the microscopic to the macroscopic. This naturalistic inspiration is distilled into a fluid visual language that seamlessly orchestrates the compositions. Reflecting the continuous flow of nature, these designs metaphorically represent the fluid dynamics of societal and civilizational transformations. Within this artistic framework, the visuals respond to real-time data streams, their motion, shape, speed, and color configurations dynamically shifting in reaction. This living interaction between art and data streams perpetually unveils new patterns, capturing the ever-evolving interplay between natural rhythms and human insights. About the Artist: Patrick Doan Patrick Doan is a Canadian artist living in Berlin. He is considered a leading figure in the real-time 3D digital art scene. It allows for highly personalized designs that remain unique within a series, leveraging long-form generative art and user input to ensure no two items are identical. This innovative approach harmonizes individuality with scalable production, paving the way for a future where bespoke customization and mass manufacturing coexist seamlessly, offering unprecedented levels of personalization and creative expression. Turning Ideas into Reality Both Plateau Candy and fxhash, the world’s largest generative platform, recognized the immense potential in this forward-thinking technology. To bring this vision to life, we co-founded SUPERSTRUCTURES. With our initial drops—one in Interior Design and the other in Fashion—coming in Summer/Fall 2024, we aim to demonstrate proof of concept for product creation in the premium and luxury goods markets. To make this a reality, we transformed this concept with fxhash into a sophisticated post-web3 UX minting platform and established a new brand, all powered by fxhash technology. A new chapter SUPERSTRUCTURES marks a paradigm shift by blending digital innovation with physical manufacturing. This venture produces a new category of distinctive, interconnected consumer goods, characterized by algorithmic diversity and user co-creation. Establishing a new relationship with products, where users inscribe themselves into the creation process, it stands in contrast to fast interior or fast fashion. Unlike these transient, impersonal goods, SUPERSTRUCTURES offers a new breed of products that fuse design, art, and personalization, reflecting a significant evolution in the conception and production of premium and luxury items. From 1/1 to 1/1/X Generative manufacturing evolves from handcrafted bespoke items (1/1) to unique serialized pieces (1/1/X). Starting with one-of-a-kind creations, it progresses through mass customization (1/X), offering limited personalization options. The pinnacle is individual uniqueness within a series (1/1/X), using long-form generative art to create each product uniquely within a collection. This method blends millions of possible combinations with co-creative user input, harmonizing personalization and scalable production through a code-driven artistic vision.
